The 2021/2022 financial year continued to provide challenges for both MDA National and our valued Members.

We, just like our Members in their practices and personal lives, have faced unprecedented headwinds in recent years. The COVID-19 pandemic, elective surgery cancellations, impacts of geopolitical events and the effect of an increased frequency of severe weather events on international reinsurance markets have all had a profound impact on our business. Despite the challenges, we have remained focused on what really matters - providing the expert advice and unwavering support that our Members need to practise with confidence throughout these trying times.

Our Members will always be at the heart of everything we do, committing us to deliver on our promise – to support and protect Members and promote good medical practice.

Here are some key highlights from the 2021/22 financial year:

• Retained over 96% of our practising senior doctor Members
• Our in-house medico-legal team responded to 9,769 enquiries
• Launched our Junior Doctor Keep on Program with 2,479 registrations received
• Our Support in Practice team assisted 1,818 Members
• We introduced a new MDA National Medicare Committee
• Delivered 5,597 education hours
• Had 177,250 visitors to the MDA National website
• Launched the Culture Project to align organisational culture, strategy and purpose

The Culture Project, initiated in 21/22, will see us strengthen the strong commitment to the care of our Members that our dedicated team already have. Further strengthening alignment of culture to our strategy, will see us deliver (over the longer term) better outcomes and value for our Members, supporting a stronger healthcare community.
