Enhancing patient understanding – Online

The Enhancing Patient Understanding: Health Literacy and Communication workshop is designed to assist Members to prevent misunderstandings and provide health care that supports patients who may struggle with interpreting and obtaining health information.

This online workshop delivered in a small and interactive virtual environment will:

  • Explore the warning signs and implications of limited health literacy and strategies to improve patient understanding
  • Assess your workplace systems to identify areas to enhance the health literacy environment to support patients with limited health literacy
  • Benefit doctors at all career stages.

Our Facilitator

Dr Frances Poliniak is an experienced General Practitioner who works as a rural and remote locum GP preferring to work in Aboriginal Medical Services. She is also a medical educator and a clinical teacher for the Remote Vocational Training Scheme, Eastern Victoria GP training and GPSynergy. Frances holds a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (Honours), a Diploma from the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Obstetrics and Gynaecology, a Masters in General Practice Psychiatry, and is a Fellow of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners.

This workshop is complimentary for MDA National Members. Space permitting, others may register and attend for a fee.
